Dear Steve:

To me the physiological "chakras" represent points of intense magnetic
sensitivity which are actuated not only by pressure but also by the nature
of the feelings and thoughts of the operator. They are analogs to the
corresponding divisions in man's psychological and mental set-up. But they
only represent the most material aspect of those inner centers. Take
another thing into account:

The whole of our physical body exists to support and protect the head. And
the Head itself has its own heavy protective casing.. But the brain alone
is not the MAN. Nor is it any thing more than a tool and an intermediary
between the body and the living INDWELLER, which is totally immaterial.

You know that in my opinion HPB is the messenger and "mouth-piece" for
Masters and their Work with us all. Not all will agree, as there is too
much personal liking and disliking and doubting. But for myself, I do take
(or make) a stand.

Sufficient to say that there is strong evidence that there are forces active
in the world that would gladly see THEOSOPHY extinguished, or side-tracked.
Let ask why.

IMO it does not matter how we label things "exo-" or "eso-" -teric. I find
I read things over, months or years later, and suddenly see meanings I had
not grasped earlier. Does it mean progress? Awakening? In any case I must
have altered my own perception.

I have for myself a principle (I have said this before) : I will not
discuss things HPB has labeled "private, " or "esoteric." It is an area for
each one to work on, and then, discover by their own application and work.

So, to me, it is time wasted to try to dig, or to discuss. Lets do what we
can with the material offered. We don't even know a fraction of it -- after
all my years study -- I am amazed at my continued ignorance. But of this I
am sure, THEOSOPHY is valid, and honest, and true, and is supported by
history. No one ever leaves THEOSOPHY without having received some
assistance. And it leaves a mark for the future. Some credulity has been
chipped off.

Anyone who tries to validate HPB's scholarship, and quotes, and capacity for
logic and argument -- can only be amazed at the wide-spreading capacity
there for handling with accuracy and dexterity any subject that arises.

Anyone who says the SECRET DOCTRINE does not answer to the criterion of a
"Text-book" is making a bad mistake.

Best I, IMO, for us to encourage others to help us (and themselves) locate
what they think is valuable. Then we find that when several minds do that
together, the picture comes in clearer.

Using analogies, correspondences and basic teachings helps a lot, and saves
time (I hope)..

Best always,

Dallas

I think the issue over what is exo or eso-teric, has been
diffused in our time, mostly because HPB's work has been titled
Esoteric in general, in contrast with the general writings on
philosophy. Also, people want to feel as if they have been included
in some kind of select group, whether they have been or not. It is
often an ego issue, where true Esoteric study of human nature, must
by definition, exclude the lower ego.

But, I think the distinction really belongs in occult subject
matter, between that knowledge, which can be applied by most folks
without causing confusion or deeper internal conflict(Exoteric), and
that knowledge for which a great deal of inner work has been done so
that this knowledge will not impinge negatively upon the practioner
or others (Esoteric).

To the Mahatmas, this is not a negotioable arena for only they know better,
so that the teachings are given the way they are: the Exoteric in open
forums, and the Esoteric in closed or even individual session. Now this is
the product of just thinking over the issue at hand and useing common sense
as well as studying
the way "Letters That have Helped me" and some Mahatma Letters have
been formulated.

If you have followed my thoughts here, then you will see that the
differences betwen Exo and Eso-teric is not a rational or a
perspective, and must be based in a real aspect of the Wisdom
Religion. Because this is true, there can be and in fact has been, a
misuse of literature which was intended for a deeper consideration,
than is normally allowed or even called for in open forums. Into that
issue falls subjects like the Chakras, where it can be obviously seen
that confusion is the by-product of thoughtless open publishing, as
well as other aspects of the literature, which having been wrongly
openly published has also caused difficulties.

Steve
