I have long been of the opinion that the internet managed to transform
discourse into cacophany. Now, on the surface, this may seem like a bad thing, but
it has a serious advantage. In a cacophany no individual can be heard, which
means while the fundamentalists may make a great deal of noise, they are
actually more easy to filter out.
It is very hard to killfile someone in a meeting room without leaving
evidence and witnesses.
Still, on rare occasions, they manage to come up with something interesting
or provide those more rational of us with some entertainment. Of course they
believe that their every word is inspired wisdom which makes them even funnier.
