The National Library of Australia has now completed the cataloguing of the
4,000 books and 240 sets of journals in the collection donated by the family
of the late Dr John Cooper. The books have been kept together in a special
collection, and the journals have been integrated into the Library’s Serials
Collection. The archival collection – thirty large boxes – is in the process
of cataloguing and will be kept in the Library’s Manuscripts Collection.

The Cooper family and I have received bound volumes of the catalogue of the
books and journals (400 pages) in both hard copy and on CD. This catalogue is
a valuable resource for Theosophical bibliography and history.

There is a page on the Library’s website devoted to the Dr John Cooper
Collection: www.nla.gov.au/collect/cooper.html More details of the Library’s
holdings of journals relating to Theosophy (including those from the Cooper
Collection) can be found by searching the Library’s on-line catalogue:
http:///catalogue.nla.gov.au/

Access to and use of the Collection is possible on the conditions prescribed
by the Library.

Those books and journals not required by the Library, or which duplicated
those already in the Library’s collection have, at the family’s request, been
returned to me.

Dr Gregory Tillett
