>Why study something you say is a false statement. Cass.

When you study something that is false, you can still learn from it.

For example, I know that Adolf H. had false beliefs, but I would not let that stop me from trying to understand him. One way to understand him is to read his words. (Though I haven't read any of his words yet, except those that appear in OTHER places.)

One way to understand your enemies is to read and/or study his words. Doing so might help you understand your own beliefs better.

Studying does not mean you agree.

Besides, if we were to make it a rule to never study something that is false, we'd have to stop studying American History textbooks, because they are loaded with falsehoods and omissions, though not as bad as in some countries. Just look at the current controversy about Japanese history texts. Some Chinese are boycotting because the new Japanese texts don't even mention some of the Japanese atrocities like their occupation of China.
