You could, if you have Microsoft Word, program the "Autocorrect" function to automatically change "HPB" to "the longer version of your choice" and also program any other abbreviatons you commonly use.

Of course, the disadvantage of this is that you have to do your typing in a different program, but a person who wants to auto-change abbreviatons to words can certainly use them.

By the way, you can see "auto correct" in action in word. Just type "Now is teh time" and watch it change teh to the as soon as you type the space afterward.
