Oh, there was trouble all right. But, I agree, in the long run it was the Theosophical Society which hurt the Theosophical Society.
You said in study material TSA uses principles and terminology of AB and CWL. Apparently they don't use name of AB and CWL. I searched TSA site, there is hardly and reference of AB and CWL. Management should know that most of the philosophy which TS has is given by AB and CWL. Other writers took those principles and wrote books.
I'm certain that Management knows the source of the teachings they promote. However, normally TSA manuals are more about presenting ideas and less about presenting personalities. If you look at the bibliographies of study materials, the listings are generally predominately AB, CWL, and books by other authors in the tradition of AB and CWL. Such as A.E. Powell, Sri Ram, Clara Codd, etc. I have a copy of the 1968 version of Emogene Simons "Introductory Study Course in Theosophy" which is still promoted in a later edition. The diagrams are consistent with AB/CWL, not Blavatsky. I doubt if this has changed in the revision. I would be very interested to know if it has. While TSA prints AB and CWL books, they also print HPB, and books of current interest.
TSA should know that spiritual organization lives because of life flowing into it from Masters and their advanced disciples. Disciples and Master are one to considerable extent.

They are aware of this.

Disciples and Master are one to considerable extent. Anything you do to a disciple is indirectly doing to the Master himself. So when section is ungrateful to AB and CWL it does not receive life from Hierarchy. That is why TSA is in such miserable condition.
Pictures of AB and CWL also hang at TSA headquarters.

Jerry,

This sounds like the Lodges we used to have here in the early 1960s when I first joined the Theosophical Society. Besant Lodge in Hollywood used to typically have 100 people attending their Sunday lectures. A Picture of Krishnamurti hung on the wall, as well as pictures of Besant and Leadbeater. Times have changed and the American culture has changed quite a lot. TSA management no longer actively supports Lodges, and there are very few of them left. Besant Lodge now has very few members.
