Hacker also has an excellent work called "A Pocket Style Manual." My wife requires her graduate students to have it. I use it when writing. I think it is the best thing on the subject. Much better than the old Strunk and White we used to use.

Last year, I got a good reference book on writing for my daughter for her
ninth grade honors English class. The book is "A Writer's Reference," by
Diana Hacker. There is an associated online site with extensive examples of
good writing, grammar, and has many online quizzes to help teach people. I
recommend the website (and book too) to anyone interested in the subject.
