Here's something I wrote to a friend who's friend suddenly died in a car crash. I don't know if ... In any case, for better or worse (as usual):

Lately, I've been thinking about the dualistic nature of life, in general.
In other words, everything in life as we know it keeps cycling: up/down, black/white, good/bad, sleep/awake, life/death, happy/sad, and so on. Seems to me that we couldn't have "life," in general, as it's generally understood, without some sort of contrast by which "life" could be recognized as such. In other words, how could we humans have any of the kind of life that we're used to collectively if it weren't for ongoing, essentially dualistic interpretations and experiences, (or interpretive experiences, in a sense)? Seems to me that when people start to recognize that there's an essentially dualistic basis for perceived reality, then that kind of recognition might tend to lead to an interest in some esoteric topics.
