Is The National Enquirer a "reputable academic publisher"? He has
been praised to the skies by theosophists, some of whom fancy
themselves to be scientists.
One thing that should be said is that Leadbeater's drawings bear an
odd resemblance to sketches of electron orbitals in textbooks on
quantum mechanics. Thet is relevant because Leadbeater published his
book long before quantum mechanics was founded as a science. What
weakens its significance is the fact that some of us question whether
it makes sense to make drawings like this, given that quantum
mechanics is supposed to describe subatomic reality in non-
phenomenological terms, and also the fact that Leadbeater refused to
put his great clairvoyance to any sort of empirical test analyzing
even the simplest chemical compounds psychically. If his admirers
are going to persist in insisting his stuff be taken seriously, and
they have indicated that they are, they should prove their sincerity
by replicating his experiments and subjecting their own clairvoyance
to the empirical tests which Leadbeater refused to consider. The
Amazing Randi has promised to make them wealthy if they can
demonstrate that this phenomenon is real so they cannot plead that
they have no incentive. If they replicate the experiments
successfully, the skeptics will fall silent. I have never been able
to hold my breath tht long, so folks, please get with it.
