Dear Ann S:
I agree with you that a continuing review of history (THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY
or other) is not productive, as none of us can reverse that which has
happened.
Regardless as how we would like others to view the past, it cannot be
altered and no amount of words today, after the lapse of time, will make
actual changes. It is also proves that many individual and personal
opinions will be drawn over rough edges and possibly rubbed very raw. We all
owe respect and thanks to those who introduced us to THEOSOPHY as a free and
intensive attitude of research in which we all seem to have some interest.
As I understand it and as I desire to continue reading and contributing to
any "chat group" termed "Theosophical," I would prefer reading and hearing
about
investing it, and study along theosophical lines and those principles that
it has, as a philosophy, outlined.
I mean subjects or objects of investigation like:]
1. Man's immortality as a "Monad." True or false ?
2. The field of "consciousness," intelligence," mind, desire, feeling,
mood, intuition, meditation, contemplation, imagination, fancy, "reality"
vs. "Maya,
3 Reincarnation, OBE and NDE experiences.
4 Comparative religions.
5 The nature of the ethics and morals that appear to be common
properties and basics for all religions.
6 Philosophy, logic, perception, thought, emotion, excitement, desire,
needs and wants. A vast variety of philosophical and emotional states that
are of common experience but seem to be largely un-tabulated, and
uncoordinated.
7 The future of evolution as a general trend. Man's future states?
Are they "Spiritual" (Idealism); or "Psychical" (amusement, entertainment,
selfish bliss, etc. ?
8 What are: universality, impersonality, unselfishness, compassion,
generosity, the desire to assist and instruct?
9 What are the arts, sciences, crafts and real needs of the average
person and family.
10 How should the ideal communal life in family, community, towns,
countries be conducted.
11 Do people need rulers and government? Is anyone capable of equitably
ruling anyone else?
12 How is discipline to be applied? From within or without? Are there
any rules of self-discipline?
13 Are occultism and esotericism the same? If not, how do they differ?
14 Who knows about this, and how can we be given any direction to
sharpen our perceptions? Are there any general rules, If so, where and how
are they to be tested?
15 Is Karma in Nature, the Universe, our Earth, and in humanity and the
whole of physical, astral, psychical, and spiritual divisions in related
balance? How can this be ascertained and checked?
A question was asked:
Is Universal Brotherhood Utopia?
The answer appears to be Yes and No. Yes -- depends on ideal Nature and
it Laws. Can we secure a survey of these?
No -- on our personal desires, needs, inclinations, and wants. And even
if we are able to define these personally, selfishly, and in terms others
will accept, what is their ultimate possible achievability?
The whole of Nature (the Universe) whether large or small, old or new,
appears to be cooperative and interactive. What are the bonds that provide
for such a unifying reality?
I find there are many areas of research and help we can all contribute to.
Best wishes,
Dallas

This will be my second post to theos-talk and probably my last. What
truly amazes me is that the discussions here are very much the same
discussions that were on theos-l. I'm just not one to watch re-runs.
Chuck- I think I still have a copy of your book. If you want me to
mail it back to you, contact me at my email address.
Sincerely,
Ann Safron
