Fair enough Dallas. Citing sources is expected in informative and (and
sometimes) persuasive essays, and I agree that a case might be made for
using them on a chat board. However, scholarship is much more than
citing sources and implies the application of methodology. Graduate and
post graduate degrees are supposed to be evidence that one has been
trained in the methodology or methodologies of a given field. Whether
or not one applies those skills, is another question.
