Many thanks for the hints.
As I own an external ADSL modem, the hint on acceleration using ordinary PCI cards will be useful for some friends of mine who still use the dial-up connection. It is a pitty that 2 years ago I was not aware of these accelerators or I would have saved time due to the high price of the minutes spent in callings. So much money is thrown away in callings and you pay a lot for something that will never be ours...the perfect example of buddhist impermanence.
Anyway, thanks for the attention of you all!
Krishtar

Krishtar,
ADSL and Broadband both use corresponding Modem Cards placed in a slot of
the PC as far as I know. But for regular dial-up Modem users who are usually
restricted to 56K modem speed there are "Accelerator" software available that
is apparently used by some ISP's as an additional minor selling enticement. One
resource i have seen offers Accelerator Software that does not need a new
Modem card is:
www.webroot.com (they make an excellent anit-spyware program, it has the best
user manual I have seen for utility and completedness)
Sometimes setting "max speed" option to 115,000 bs actually minimized
online speed, I have read the better solution is to set "min speed" option to 56K
if on dial-up and not using ADSL or Broadband.
