Geoffrey Farthing writes:

He [Leadbeater] puts himself in a very false position as an
'occult' author in the Introduction to his book
THE ASTRAL PLANE where he says that his manuscript
was considered so excellent as an exposition that
the Masters wanted it for their archives....
One example of the extent to which the members of the Theosophical
Society, from senior members to the newest, were 'infected' by CWL is
exemplified by Jinarajadasa's acceptance of the fact that CWL's
Astral Plane manuscript had in fact been transmitted magically to the
Masters....

I do not currently have the edition of THE ASTRAL PLANE that
has the above incident.
Futhermore, I believe Mr. Farthing is wrong in attributing
the introduction to C.W. Leadbeater.
If memory serves me right, the Introduction was
by C. Jinarajadasa. In that introduction
Jinarajadasa states that it was
C.W. Leadbeater who told him what Mr. Farthing
says above.
The edition spoken of is the following:
The astral plane /
Author(s): Leadbeater, C. W. 1847-1934. (Charles Webster),
Publication: Adyar, Madras : Theosophical Pub. House,
Edition: 1st Adyar ed. rev. & enl.
Year: 1933
Description: xxi, 183 p. ; 17 cm.
Language: English
Series: Theosophical manual ;; no. 5;
Standard No: ISBN: 0835670937
SUBJECT(S)
Descriptor: Theosophy.
Class Descriptors: Dewey: 212.5
Responsibility: by C. W. Leadbeater ; introduction by C.
Jinarajadasa.
Document Type: Book
The above edition and subsequent reprints of this
edition has the Introduction by C. Jinarajadasa.
Maybe someone with that introduction can reproduce
the relevant passages.
But the point to be made is that according to
Jinarajadasa, it was Mr. Leadbeater who told C.J.
about the Masters wanting the Astral Plane manuscript, etc.
