Bart,

In alternative 1, even if this was true that he believed
the charges were nonsense, was he so oblivious to the
effects his behavior was having on the Theosophical 
Society and the perception of Theosophy in the eyes of
the public?

Are you saying that he just didn't care what the
repercussions were?
