According to the theosophical literature it is much worse than killing 
animals just for eating, for it is useless cruelty. Moreover, the fish 
dies slowly and suffers more than the animal killed by a rifle.

The fishermen were the first disciples of Christ, and maybe it is one 
of the reasons why Christianity is one of the most bloody and cruel 
religions in the world. :)
