Dear friend C

Many thanks for reply: I thoroughly agree with your views, as I thought we
would.

Gratitude is a wonderful virtue -- as the Masters say [MAHATMA LETTERS 9,
51,217,356; LMW 1st Series, p. 53] A real bond between pupil and teacher.
That is what is important. And the teacher has to be loyal to the pupil and
teach the higher wisdom which is innate in all things, but needs to be
exposed to the mind and grasp of the chela -- so he can take hold and work
in and on his own Lower Self, study, and make up his own mind as he forges
ahead on the Path to universality, impersonality, and honest and careful
assistance to others.

It is a dilemma when the "teacher" seems to go astray. We all have the same
panorama and bathe (all of us) in the light of the ONE SPIRIT from which all
Life comes. We expect the "Teacher" to stay ahead and "Point out the Way."

Best wishes, always,

Dallas

What are Theosophical Ethics?

Dear Dallas

Thanks for your posting, it's late here, so will follow through on reading
it tomorrow, however, I will explain what I meant by my points, below.

CASS:

Dallas, Do we reject Jesus' teachings by rejecting Judas?

=======================

DTB	I see no parallel here. Judas faults (portrayed as a betrayer, and
a traitor) were his own and under karma he will have to meet the
consequences -- I don't envy him if the account is accurate.

CASS: THE PARALLEL I WAS DRAWING WAS THAT CWL WAS THE BETRAYER OF THE
MASTERS/ HPB'S ETHICAL PRINCIPLES OF THEOSOPHY.

DTB	On the other hand check carefully and you will find that the
teachings
of HPB and the Masters are different from what CWL wrote and taught.

CASS: I WAS FIRST INTRODUCED TO THEOSOPHY THROUGH CWL'S BOOKS, AND DIDNT
REALISE THE DIFFERENCE UNTIL I STARTED READING THE SECRET DOCTRINE. I WAS
NEVER REALLY DRAWN TO HIM AS I FELT THAT HE WAS TOO "CATHOLIC" FOR MY
LIKING. HOWEVER, I TAKE YOUR POINT TO HEART, BUT STILL FEEL THAT NEWCOMERS
WHO ARE FIRST INTRODUCED TO CWL ARE LED TOWARDS THE PATH WITH A PEBBLE IN
THEIR SHOE.

DTB	Now of the two sides, who would you trust?

CASS: NO CONTEST, IF I AM GOING TO MISINTERPRET SOMETHING, AT LEAST I WANT
IT TO BE FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH.

DTB	But first, would you not put anything offered through the mill of
your
own mind and thinking?

CASS: OF COURSE, BUT AT THE BEGINNING I ASSUMED THAT HIS MIND AND HIS
THINKING WAS AT A HIGHER LEVEL THAN MINE.

DTB	Would you not consult your own powers of Intuition and BUDDHI-MANAS
?

CASS; I HAVE FOUND MY INTUITION TO BE A BIT HIT AND MISS, SO MY GENERAL
RULE WAS, DOES IT MAKE COMMON SENSE? and seeing I am not psychic and I
cannot see into the hidden side of nature, I more or less took what he said
as a definite maybe.

DTB	[I have just re-read what HPB says on this subject in TRANSACTIONS
OF THE BLAVATSKY LODGE (UNITED LODGE OF THEOSOPHISTS publication) pp 62 -
69 -- On the inter-relation at night between the brain-mind (Lower Manas)
and the HIGHER SELF (Atma-Buddhi) [Blavatsky: COLLECTED WORKS: Vol X,
pp. 248-255]

=======================================

Dallas, Are you suggesting that we sweep the dirt under the carpet
so the house looks clean?

========================================

DTB	See above -- of course not. That would be hypocritical, no?
If ever we are to be trusted we have to "point out the way" and let
TRUTH stand clear, and thus defend herself.

CASS: YES, THAT IS WHY I AM VERY CAREFUL ABOUT ' SAYING TO OTHERS WHAT IS
THE TRUTH' AND HAVEN'T YOU FOUND, EVEN IN LIFE GENERALLY, THE TRUTH ALWAYS
COMES OUT AT SOME POINT.

DTB	It is the basic PRINCIPLES that count most.

DTB	But I would issue a strong warning for the benefit of all those who
trust anything CWL ever wrote.

DTB	Have you a copy of Margaret Thomas' THEOSOPHY or NEO-THEOSOPHY --
the comparisons offered there, make these points obvious. (to me.)

CASS YES, I THINK YOU OR ANOTHER MEMBER POSTED IT A FEW WEEKS BACK, I WAS
SO SURPRISED TO READ OF SO MANY DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN CWL AND HPB.
HPB IS PRECISE AND TO THE POINT, YOU GET THE COLD HARD FACTS ON HOW SHE SEES
THINGS, LIKE IT OR LUMP IT.

WHEREAS CWL'S WRITING STYLE SEDUCES THE READER BY PUTTING A NEW NOSE ON AN
OLD FACE. IT IS THAT OLD STYLE RELIGION WITH REINCARNATION, KARMA, AND
PSYCHISM ADDED. RELIGIOUS PLASTIC SURGERY.

ALL THE BEST
