What purpose would have been served by having them be women?

I don't know about purpose, but I gather Isis was a woman, brother of Osiris, and apparently the pair of them had something to do with civilizing some ancient Egyptians. I'm tending to speculate along the lines that those two might seem like "Masters" to some people. I wonder if males might've been generally seen as more applicable, (per traditional notions about roles), especially in the old old days.

Speculatively,
