Re: Practical Theosophy

Dear Friends:

Let me suggest:

Regarding our reading and study of the MAHATMA LETTERS

First. Did the Master want to have this particular letter broadcast?

Was it not private and confidential to Sinnett?

Did it have to do with insights relative to the moral nature and conduct of
his fellows?

What was the intent behind such forthright evaluation?

2nd Who are we to judge at this late date what was the reason and
motive for those letters?

Were there chelas under direction and instruction?

And were there they addressed to one who was supposed to help them?

And did such a person have to know what the inner and real nature of the
situation was?

3rd For what reason, among those who labor on the Path together,
should there be secrets?

Are we not brothers labouring together to assist each other?

If so, then why secrets we need to hide?

And, is there such a thing as false secrecy as well as true and useful or
obligatory secrecy?

4th Are we (today) asked to make up our minds on the basis of what
little we know?

Have we studied the time sequence and nature of those letters and what was
being done?

Do we know what the Masters intended?

I ask these questions because I would say, in general, we are all poorly
equipped in our knowledge of real occultism. And as far as I know none of us
have any explanation from the Masters, or HPB as to why those letters were
written in such a way.

Further, we can all learn from those that if we approach the doors of the
Hal of the Occult -- our most private and inner thoughts and motives are
well known to the Adepts concerned with the progress of all chelas and true
occultists.

Are we keeping our hearts pure?

Let us study HPB's articles:

MKR,

Can you help me to understand why a "master" would focus on others in such
a negative and judgemental way? Is this the perspective one adopts when one
gains a certain measure of divine wisdom?

Bill
