Dear Daniel,
As with most things, and mostly all things theosophical, it's all a
matter of one's point of view. We may as well quibble about how many
angels can dance on the head of a pin. Who knows? Who cares? What is
an angel? And what, indeed, is a Master? What are the limitations
that govern His reality? Do we have any idea? Can we have any idea?
Do we suppose that said limitations are the same as those that govern
our reality, stuck as we are here on the material plane?
Personally I am willing to assert that it's all true. Paul Johnson is
a nice and sincere guy who obviously believes what he has written, or
at least is willing to suggest it could be true. For those to whom
his seems the best explanation, so be it. Who am I do demand that
anyone think what I think about anything? But for me, all that HPB
said or wrote has validity on some plane in some context from some
point of view. Personally I don't care if it makes intellectual
sense. The mind is the slayer of the real. The intellect is
handicapped when the subject is immaterial, or in any way
transcendental. I would rather accept what I find in the teachings
that have been offered me in this cycle by some great souls, and try
them it for myself. If there is something I cannot accept, I put it
aside and wait, for if I am devoted to becoming that to which I
aspire (a better more fully realized human being, somewhat more in
accord with my own higher ideals) all will be revealed to me in its
right time, and I don't have to struggle with it at all. I just have
to live my life in a righteous way and never give up trying.
That's my take, but hey, to each his own.
All the best,
Adelasie
