To be serious, which is somewhat out of character and I try not to be too
often, I have little patience with folks who have to justify every idea by
someone else's authority. Years ago I used to dive into those debates with fists
and feet flying but I no longer have the patience for what I can only see as
pettifogging drivel.

If an idea has resonance, if it works, it does not matter if HPB or even
(gods forbid!) Jesus said it. It still works. And if it does not work, it does
not matter again if HPB, Masters, or Great Cthulhu said it. It is still
nonsense.

If Theosophy is about Truth at some level, then Theosophists must also be
willing to understand that the old books could be just plain untrue on occasion,
in fact on most occasions in some of them. So it really is not important if
an idea is in agreement or disagreement with a canon or a canonical work. What
matters is the idea.
