Hi Krishtar,
The artist is named John Augustus Knapp and it appears on the cover
of one of my books. But I had seen it in another book which had a
cropped version cutting off the signature, and which listed the
permission as coming from the Temple of the People, a Theosophical
group in Halcyon, CA. So I got permission from them and they sent a
copy to SUNY Press. Only after the book came out did I realize that
there was more to the picture than I'd seen in the earlier book and
that the artist had signed it.
