No, not ambition. (Unless it was the ambition to fulfill her mission
successfully.) But simply conformance with her vows. Perhaps, that means, to give out
all the "Secret" teachings leading to Adeptship, but to also make sure they
can be deciphered and correlated only by those with a sufficiently developed
intuition and mental concentration, plus a strong desire to fulfill the objects
of the theosophical movement, along with a willingness to make the effort to
find the keys to opening the door to the esoteric knowledge covered over and
hidden in (buried within and as fragments scattered throughout) the exoteric
teaching.
One way to do this would be to use symbols that are separated from their
explanation by extraneous, misleading or redundant exoteric information. Another,
is to complete an explanation of an apparently non sequitur or incomplete
esoteric point by referring to an outside reference book or scripture. Another,
is to hide the esoteric meaning within the explanations of the exoteric
interpretation by use of tricks of typography and syntax, etc. There are more keys,
but to explain them here would give away the secrets to those not ready for
them. (Unless you are astute enough to find them in the mess of words I've
written above, and/or in some of my previous correspondence. :-)
Thus, it is obvious that since the title of her definitive book on the
subject is called "The Secret Doctrine" (which rests on another of her books called
"Isis Unveiled") -- the first, not so subtle hidden key, is to recognize that
the esoteric information contained within and linked between both books, must
still be secret (or, if you will, "sacred" knowledge). The next step is to
figure out how and where these "secrets" are hidden, and how to extract the
wheat from the chaff.
Therefore, for those willing to follow the path that HPB so carefully laid
out and set up the guideposts for, and who also have the proper requisites of
intellect, motive, and persistence -- there is no need to speculate about any of
the hidden or esoteric teachings... That, just like the spirit within each of
us, must remain forever hidden from those who can only see its outer covering
or physical expression.
Best wishes,
Leonardo
P.S. FYI; One of the rules I learned during my long career as a freelance
"creative, art and technical director" was to never take a job on spec. </:-)>
