act-l historic discussions

A few days back, there was some discussion about what went on with the ACT.
If anyone is interested in reading the original discussions, I have a file
with the act-l mailing list daily digests dated from April 1998 through July
2000. The zipped file is about 531K, making for a quick download, and it has
1857K of messages in it. The file is in reverse chronological order (most
recent digests first) because that was how it saved to disk when I output it
from Outlook, but it's still useful for browsing what people thought and
said at the time. It provides an contemporaneous view of events at the time,
which is presumable more accurate than the memory of people many years
later. The file can be downloaded from:
