Very interesting point. If you can pin down the origin of your fear
it should be possible to get rid of it.

To some folks the fear is that their beloved ego will come to an
end. The solution to this is Buddhist practice, in which one
gradually surrenders attachment to this delusion during life. Then
when one dies the ego death is already completed.

To others losing consciousness is what they fear. The solution to
that is to notice how easy and pleasant it is to drop off to sleep
every night. Not only is it easy but even welcome after a difficult
day. Dropping off to sleep after a difficult life (not that anyone I
know has ever had a difficult life) should be equally pleasant and
welcome.

To still others the fear may be leaving their bodies. This is not an
easy thing to accomplish, but it is possible to have the out of body
experience without the need for dying first. There are plenty of
books out there to tell you how to do it. The cynics may scoff, but
knowledgeable psychologists are agreed that people do have this
experience. What is in dispute is whether the experience is what it
appears to be or whether it is some sort of hallucination. Only the
misinformed (theosophists and other misinformed people) doubt that
people do have this experience.

Still others fear going to hell. All I can say to that is, THEY
SHOULDN'T HAVE PISSED ME OFF WHILE THEY WERE STILL ALIVE. At least
the people they meet in hell will probably me more interesting and
colorful than the ones the rest of us will have to put up with in
heaven. I have nightmares about heaven looking like some sort of bad
movie from the fifties. If heaven is as boring as that Baptist
summer camp I had to put up with when I was a kid, I think I will opt
for swift reincarnation. Or physical immortality in this life.

See you in a thousand years.
