Ha, ha... What are you on these days? I used to think I levitated in the
60's when I was on homegrown hash brownies (and deep into Egyptian and Tibetan
mysticism). Drunks used to come over to me and say they saw me doing it (at
one of those kind of parties). But, I never saw anyone else do it. (Even after
I showed them how.:-) In those days, I never remembered eating either
(besides the brownies) although I seemed to be in robust health. I once tried to
stop breathing for a few days, but I can't remember if I was successful, since I
slept through most of it. I even talked to a guy with a long black beard and
saffron robe who showed up one night at one of those parties and, said his
name was Master Morya. I think it was in Andy Warhol's loft (or maybe at one of
the all night swim pool parties on the roof of my apartment house). He told
me he was a reincarnation of Akhnaton, and that I was once his brother (or was
it cousin) Moses. But, later, when I asked where he had gone (after
levitating with me and disappearing in a puff of smoke) none of the awake people
remembered he was even there. When I spoke about it with Joe Namath, who I bumped
into the next day in the elevator, he said, yeah, he remembered, "Lenny Morya
was there, but he was asleep most of the time." He didn't recognize me,
though. I wondered why, since we parked our cars next to Sammy Davis' Rolls Royce in
the building garage where we lived. Maybe he thought I was Sammy -- since we
were both of Hebrew descent (isn't almost everybody in New York?:-) -- and
Sam did look a bit like my grandfather. (Or, perhaps, the brownie effect hadn't
worn off Joe yet.:-) BTW, all that happened just about the time I wandered
into the ULT lodge which was just around the corner (although I passed by it
for a couple of years and never noticed it). After that, I gave up brownies,
and started eating regular food. Do you think I'd be a credible witness if I
happened to be at one of HPB's parties when she was part of that same sort of
uptown New York scene? (I heard she liked brownies, too, but also gave it up
after she founded the TS.) </:-)>
