Hey,
Any who read and enjoyed Stephen Prothero's biography of Olcott (The
White Buddhist) might find it interesting that his second book is
getting considerable attention. It's the first nonfiction work
reviewed in the current New York Times Book Review, entitled
American Jesus: How the Son of God Became a National Icon. This is
a kaleidoscopic examination of Jesus in American thought, which
reviewer Michael Massing calls "well written, judiciously argued and
impressively researched" but also "sprawling and somewhat shapeless."
