Dear Steve,

Thank you for your reply. Now, please consider me as an absolute 
ignoramus on this facet of early theosophy... hence, I would be more 
than happy to learn anything on this matter, any detail. Where and how 
did Blavatsky came into contact with the Ramayana? Why did she recount 
the balloon detail, did it make an impression on her? Was it a topic 
that was discussed at that time in learned circles? Is there any 19th 
century literature on these balloons, or flying vessels outside 
theosophy? Was there any article published on this topic in 19th century 
theosophical journals? What was the impact in theosophy?

Anything you - or others on this list - could tell me, I would be grateful.
