Dear Reed:

Re: 3 Logoi -- Verba -- Words

Speech comes with knowledge.

Knowledge comes with experience.

Experience comes from pre-existence.

Pre-existence implies immortality (perhaps ?). At least living before
this present life.

It also implies an organ of speech, air within which to frame
modulations, a Mind that controls an instrument of almost infinite
capacities ( larynx, vocal chords and mouth ) -- so you have an
environment, relationships, instruments and their controls. Likewise
implied is the freedom to shape words and to enquire into meanings.
Finally, an "ear" which, on receiving sounds, translates these into
meanings for another Mind to consider. Then: reaction.

Since here we are looking at the origins of this particular Manvantara
the idea advanced (as I understand it) is

A UNIVERSAL MIND that coexists with "SPIRIT" and its vehicle "Matter."

In the SECRET DOCTRINE the 3 Fundamentals are advanced for primary
assimilation ( Vol. 1, pp 14-19 ). As I see it, "mind" has to form a
link between "spirit" and "matter" so that these polar opposites may
understand and interact. Alone, they are like parallel lines they never
meet but run eternally together.

The universal evidence of living, consciousness and intelligence
shows that a third factor (mind) is essential to create a continuous
and continuing relationship at all levels. This is the source of
"life." As "breath" is needed for "words," so "breath" is needed for
life.

To, then, the 3 Logoi mean:

1	precursor to thought (unmanifested),

2	constructing of a thought in a MIND (manifesting) , and

3	imposing the fully framed thought on plastic materials at hand
(manifested).

So, I am sure, much can be be gleaned.

I liked the sharpness of Jerome's analogy to "blue sky," "clouds and
sky," and "rain."

Best wishes,

Dallas

Jerome,

This is a little late in responding but I wanted to express appreciation

for your analogy below. I think it is quite helpful and may be
clarifying
for others. Your analogy, I think, is exactly correct. It may easily
give
the basic idea in familiar terms and allow us to build upon that basic
idea.

There are some natural questions that emerge from this. Why should that

analogy be so fundamental? One of my questions is intended to be, "what

other analogies to the 3 logoi (plural of logos) are there? I had
intended
to ask that later when we got to the third logos. I guess I will ask it

again if it is not answered now.

Reed

In street language you could say that the:

First Logos is the clear blue sky
Second Logos is the cloud that forms in that sky
Third Logos is the rain that falls from that cloud
