Hello Sufi, and yes i will forward it.
Yes, in a way it does imply that there is a sort of social or
spiritual distance or disconnect between those who are sinners
(because they eat meat?) and just plain sinners. In fact it was
pointed out by AAB (in her unfinished autobiography) and by others
that those who were vegetarian in her group were especially nasty in
their criticism of others.
She pointed out that it made people who were vegetarian feel
themselves somehow superior and they were snobs in their attitude
towards others.
AAB felt that this was antiChristian in attitude but not that
vegetarianism was anti Christian. I found in myself that when I
first became a vegetarian I was totally given over to feeling
superior and wanted to convert everyone to vegetarianism.
In fact, I did convert for a short and long time most of my family
to giving up meat. Some went back to meat eventually. But this is a
good point and a good question which deserves some thought.
Later, after realizing that I was being heavy handed I stopped
pushing my diet on others and then became more reclusive. I know
that even though HPB had a lot of people around her she was quite
reserved in her inner attitude and truly a recluse for much of her
life! But she was not a vegetarian in any strict sense but for a
short part of her extraordinary life.
Thanks for asking
