Dear Friend:


Let us look at the idea advanced in the SECRET DOCTRINE of the "Monad."
This monad is endowed with polarity, (as SPIRIT and MATTER, asleep, and
enveloped in the mythical "egg of Brahma"). 

In THEOSOPHY the idea is that the ABSOLUTENESS of the non-manifest, and
the ONE CONSCIOUSNESS, of the manifested universe is fully pervaded by
"spirit and substance in equilibrium." These are always perceived by
"mind" at the focal point of exchange, where living change and personal
Karma are working.

Under the great universal LAW of KARMA, [exact effects always follow
their CAUSES] changes periodically occur. The ABSTRACT LAW is inherent
in the ABSOLUTENESS. 

When "Manifestation" re-occurs we may imagine: At that point the "egg"
wherein Brahma reposes, shatters and fills the Universe with diversity
and contrast. This can only be perceived by Universal MIND, present in
every unit-Monad. 

"Brahma" then becomes the active life-force (Jiva) present in every
living particle, starting perhaps, in our imagination with the Monads
and its "aggregates-skandhas" (the residual Karmic impressions of their
last life-experiences).

1.	Prior to manifestation (in maha-pralaya, or "be-ness") the
undifferentiated ALL is.  

The word-name "THE ABSOLUTE" has been used to designate this absolutely
non-material, non-substantial condition and state, ("past, present, and
future" are simultaneous, and undifferentiated -- like, in a limited
analogy, a drop (of infinite parts) is merged and dispersed throughout
the universal Ocean, and therefore both are congruent and "present"
everywhere).

2.	From one aspect it is undifferentiated ALL SPACE.  

3.	From another point of view it includes in potential the
individualized MEMORY of all PRIOR FORMS (i.e., prior manifestations --
as the individual yet aggregated consciousnesses of all beings in the
"past.". Yet it does not preclude CONSCIOUSNESS -- which is deemed to
pervade the WHOLE. It is AWARENESS but has no particular focus.

4.	It is clear for there to be a succession of
manifestation/non-manifestation that there has to be an unchangeable
eternal "background" -- a stability which serves always as contrast to
the vibratory motion of mutability -- of evolutionary life and living,
of differentiated consciousness ever interacting.

5.	We have difficulty in making a mental picture of this since we
are using our manifested brain-consciousness, our matter-limited
thought. Yet the fact that we can imagine, or think of it at all,
implies a connection with this ABSOLUTE at all times.

6	MAN'S MIND SERVES AS THE FOCAL INTERLINK BETWEEN THESE TWO: the
non-material and the material conjoin as in a focus.

7	One may conclude that if SPIRIT and MATTER form the polar
opposites of manifested existence, the third aspect, MIND, is
simultaneous and as eternal and immortal as they are.  

It is represented in its highest aspect by human Minds that have
transcended the limitations of materiality. This explains the
traditions concerning Prophets, "Sons of God," Rishis, Mahatmas, Adepts,
etc...All express the inexpressible concept of a Mind that has become
Godlike -- All Knowing, and therefore impersonal, universal and
compassionate.

The progress of the evolutionary urge on a Universal scale shows a
progressive increment of individual virtuous intelligence.  

By "virtue," the lawful and unselfish exercise of wisdom is implied. In
effect the Individual MIND makes of itself a servant and assistant to
the great URGE OF EVOLUTION which has for end-product SPIRITUAL
PERFECTION. The truly Wise never subject any other mind-being to
themselves. They teach the freedom of every mind to discover and decide
for itself its own path of progress. 

The concept of individual immortality is essential to this whole
concept.

The Human being is essentially an individual mind, an immortal PRESENCE;
and it reincarnates, using many "forms" in its majestic progress towards
universal knowledge and wisdom -- to be applied impartially.

Now this gives purpose and reasonable relationship to the idea of the
living hologram of law, mind and purpose. Each individual is to be
viewed as a potential God in the making. Every moment of our lives we
are struggling to be a more perfect human being, embracing the universe,
if we only realized our opportunities.

This is what THEOSOPHY draws our attention to: Our infinite potential.

Look at the sky on a clear day and tell me how deep is it? Why do we
have such visions and thoughts? Why are others also capable of seeing
and generating responses?
