Dear Friend:
May I make some observations end ask questions by interjecting them into
your text (below) ?

Subject: [bn-study] doubt & SCIENCE

Dear bn-study group:
Let me make you participants of what seems to me really the main problem
in
the actual theory of knowledge:
-----------------------------------------------
DTB A curious phrase "theory of knowledge."
May I establish a basis for myself and you?
Does this signify there are opinions and hypotheses as well as a
"reality" somewhere?
If so, can we say:
Knowledge is the result of observation. So it accumulates as time
passes, and it becomes a record in history, and is under continual
verification and or revision.
It relates to a series of past events which an observer could view and
describe as though they were separate from the event? Yet we also know
that our presence will inevitably leave some influence however tenuous,
on the phenomena observed. In many cases this is yet to be determined
as a factor. (It appears that a factor of "indeterminacy" -- or perhaps
of individual free will exists in all cases ?)
There would seem to be several standards of measurement. One would be
the "real" and others would be standards established and accepted by the
scientific community, so as to communicate, and make available accurate
records in terms of space, time and motion.
Observation shows that in some cases an event is affected by unknown
forces. Theosophy suggests there is an underlying field of forces
whereon atomic and molecular relations are established due to the
general and particular laws of attraction and repulsion. {Named "astral
light.") Deeper are two more areas of influence: 1. A "life-force"
named "Prana" or "Jiva". And 2. The actual force of attraction or of
repulsion named "Kama."
"Reality" is apportioned to the "Spiritual" realm of causes. This starts
with the 5. mind, and that is not alone but associated with the
Universal spiritual principles of 7. ATMA (SPIRIT) and 6. BUDDHI (or
the accumulated WISDOM OF EXPERIENCE).
These three as a unit are called the eternal monad in evolution. It is
deemed to be unchangeable and deathless hence immortal. The same is
posited or hypothesized for the scientific "atom," which is the basis
for chemical and physical measurements. The atom is deemed to be
unalterable and its qualities and properties fixed as repeatedly
observed.

I'm a physicist, and as such, I'm very interested in examining new
theories
that could open our models to higher truths, and indeed Blavatsky got my
heart
since I was 10 (now I'm 24). For me there is no doubt in what H.P. says
concerning the human mind, the human life, the powers it can control,
etc
The rest of things she affirms respecting the metaphysical structure of
Reality seem to me so true as I never felt before with any theory!
And even having not a single proof of the existence of a Spiritual world
I believe it's true.(Such is my conviction).
===========================================
DTB Metaphysical thought seems to supply this proof. Example
The UNIVERSE is one and not diverse in essence, although diverse in
manifested heterogeneity. The cause for this is said to reside in the
evolution of the "Monas" which purse their experience in all aspects of
manifestation.
A basic intelligence is developed as the unitary CONSCIOUSNESS of each
Monad perceives the need for experience over aeons of time, using many
combinations and aspects of formal living conditions. -- all this under
immutable LAW ( KARMA)
Finally the experienced Monad reaches the human stage, where
self-consciousness is marked by independence of thought and free choice.
Simultaneously a knowledge of right and wrong, good and evil, duty and
selfishness emerges so that each Monad may learn the importance of
self-control (the "Lower self" is to be con trolled by the "Higher Self
-- the Spiritual aspect of the Monad itself.)
====================================
F
Yet, there has been always something that escapes my intuition and
understanding:
It is said that by the merits of lives of effort in the way of
illumination,
people can achieve the state of Glory in which "you see the whole
Universe and
understand the whole of the law".
========================================
DTB Logically self-consciousness when rendered totally benevolent
(compassion and dispassion) make it possible for such a vision and an
understanding of it possible. The "matter: of the body, brain and
intelligent Lower /Self (Kama-manas) is purified and then made capable
of such a contact.
=====================
F
And there comes my question. Has anyone ever thought what is then the
sense of science?
=============================================
DTB Science is the capacity to see the logic of development, as a
universal carefully administered program. All beings are involved in
it. We, humans, have "self-consciousness. " This enables us to
perceive this process and advises up not to interfere in it. It
therefore is the study by an immortal CONSCIOUSNESS, of the
interrelation of all things as they evolve. It is a perception of the
KARMA of the universe, as well as of every Monad in it. All are
interlinked indissolubly. Hence the progressive experience of all
Monads follows a pattern that the individual, impersonal Intelligence
(as it develops) finds to be widening ever to include the UNIVERSAL, as
well as the "particulars."
====================================================
F
I mean, science advances slowly, slowly in a secure manner taking ages
to develop. Does this mean that science is advancing at a rate
proportional to the "spiritual level" of mankind, such that it doesn't
revel new and dangerous truths? (existing always the "quick" path of
initiation in which in some finite number of lives you will learn the
whole Law, but being reserved for people which are extraordinary for the
age, round or cycle). Is there any other explanation for science to
develop so slowly? Is it a problem of principle?
=========================================
DTB But "SCIENCE" or the knowledge of the evolution of all beings
has always existed. Our Modern science extends back for about 350 years
and prior to that it was in place say 2,000 years ago everywhere -- but
the R C Church suppressed and almost succeeded in destroying those
records. [see ISIS UNVEILED, and SECRET DOCTRINE, Vol. 2 ]
==========================================
F
I also think that perhaps it should be discussed also the profound
physical
consequences of what Blavatsky says concerning the actual modern science
by
somebody who knows and at the same time has found some insight. (This is
just
an idea for the future of the bn-study).
=====================================
DTB Excellent idea. Where do you want to begin?
=====================================
If anyone has any idea, please tell me.
