Hi, Frank:
Your history lessons are interesting, but I am persistently unable to
figure out what you are driving at with them.
Here, as syccubctly as possible, is what I was saying:
(1) If Blavatsky was suspicious of socialists it would probably be
useful to study the series of events in the nineteenth century which
led to the usurpation of the Romanov dynasty to see what this means.
It is very doubtful that, as some have suggested, this had anything
to do with the twenty first century. The events which occurred in
the 19th century, however, should be of some interest to those who
are interested in Blavatsky since they are indirectly referred to in
her writing.
(2) Now that the empire which dominated the East twenty years ago is
gone, we arguably have more to worry about from various
manifestations of violent religious activity than from "socialism."
Julius Caesar and his successors used to be a very real threat to the
Persian Empire at one time just as the Persians were a threat to
Athens and Sparta before that, but that to me is a matter of
historical interest and not current anxiety. There are,
unfortunately, plenty of realistic fears out there.
