Never thought it did. My comment was purely rhetorical and was written to
assure Sufilight (and other who might want to speak out) that their
contributions to the study of theosophy (or their questions) would be well received by
most of us who think in terms of the theosophical ideas presented rather than the
personalities of the presenters or their attributions. Not referring to you,
but there are (and have been) some shrill people on this forum who spend more
time and words knocking down other peoples ideas and personal flaws using
gossip and other ad hominem techniques (with a touch of mystical jabberwocky) than
presenting their own ideas in any cogent form. It's like the kettle calling
the pot black -- which makes no contribution to theosophical discussion. Hard
questions referring to theosophical ideas are one thing, but gratuitous
remarks consisting of unfounded, and mostly self serving negative opinions on a
personal level are quite another. Especially when the credibility or
understanding of any person (including HPB) in the eyes of others, is denigrated using
such methods -- that violate every principle of friendly theosophical
discussion. A case in point is a gratuitous recent, gossipy and self righteous letter
referring to me, that is so off the wall and obviously self serving as to not
warrant any waste of my time in answering. Of course, the persons who write
such letters are welcome to keep on putting their foot in their mouths so the
rest of us will finally understand where they are coming from and take some
action to turn them off one way or another in this unmoderated and open forum.
(One way being to assign their letters to the trash can before opening --
although it could be fun to read them first, providing you don't take them
personally. :-) My good theosophical advice, in any event, is to never give a care
about what other people say about you. To repeat, as the Master said, "The proof
is in the pudding not in the pudding maker." Some people can only make
themselves credible by tooting their own horn while stepping on and denigrating the
credibility of others. Let those whom the shoe fits, wear it.
Best regards,
Leon
