End of Life for man and for Universe ? Continuity -
Reincarnation

Dear Mauri and Friends:

Allow me to offer a part of the doctrines of Theosophy on this as
outlined in The SECRET DOCTRINE and the OCEAN OF THEOSOPHY .

As to "Grande Finale." Consider that the death of the physical
body marks the end of this incarnate activity. The immortal and
true Man, as Spirit/soul departs to the state of inter-life
called devachan. There it actively reviews all memories of its
past life and prepares for the next -- just as a schoolchild will
do daily. The material "skandhas" are no longer held to form a
vehicle, and left to themselves are scattered through Nature.

Similarly at the end of a Manvantara the "body" of the universe
is dispersed but the aggregate of the "Spirit/soul of all beings"
is preserved in an intermediary state (comparable to Devachan).
There it rests meditating, until, under KARMIC LAW, the Universe
is reassembled, and it is called to be "reborn," to resume its
work with others -- so to say.

The Skandhas (Monads of lesser experience) are reassembled,
substance becomes gradually condensed, and intelligences resume
their many activities in a new phase of Universal life and living
for all beings. Nothing is lost or rubbed out.

The High INTELLIGENCES come first -- the Buddhas, the Rishis, the
Archangels, Devas, Elohim and Dhyanis -- all constituting the
army of the WISE, are the first to "return" -- as it is their
duty to work with re-nascent material (chaos), and reshape the
worlds and environment for the old/new Egos to resume their
pilgrimage. This is described in some detail in the pages of The
SECRET DOCTRINE and the OCEAN OF Theosophy.

That is how I read the procedure in The SECRET DOCTRINE

In both cases the identity of the SPIRITUAL self and selves is
preserved, and the physical material substances are put to
"sleep" until needed again. Then they are revived and reassembled
and set to work.

"Sublime Perfection" would be a stage set for any particular
Manvantara of experience as a bench mark of achievement for that
Manvantara. But that does not mean that there not more and
higher levels to be worked in and achieved by any individual
Spirit/soul. Hence it is no absolute "finality." but only a
pausing or resting point.

What happens to those that achieve such excellence? Read the
last 6 pages of the VOICE OF THE SILENCE, and you will see that
the work and position of a tutor opens out to such successful
ones, as a continuing participation in the evolutionary process.
Not a bliss and rest of nothingness, but one of more intense
activity. That is what the Buddha teaches.

The Buddha is still alive and is the Patron of all Adepts. Thus
say the Mahatmas in Their Letters ( M L, p. 38, 43 --Barker
Edn.)

Karma does not spawn notions. I think you mean KAMA or emotions,
desires and passions as a principle in themselves. If you refer
back to the KEY TO THEOSOPHY (HPB) that your read, under KARMA,
and under KAMA the difference will be clearer I think.

Best wishes,

Dallas

UNIVERSE? Can that be anything less that
SUPREME PERFECTION?>>>

Gerald wrote: <<There is no "great finale" for
manifestation, only lots and lots of small finales
depending on where you are looking from. All
manifestation includes a downward Arc of Descent,
from spirit to material form, followed by an Arc of
Ascent from matter back into spirit. If you look
at any Arc of Descent, then the "great finale" is an
embodied material form or physical body. If you look
at any Arc of Ascent, then the "great finale" is a
spiritualized consciousness more or less at one with its
environment. Its all relative. There is no beginning to
these Arcs and there will be no end. >>

I guess I've been wondering all along if my extra
qualifiers (asides and quotes), as in the following,
might serve somewhat as incentives, maybe, in some
cases, for some people (maybe?---if not so much in
your case, Gerald), with which reading between the
lines might be somehow facilitated somewhat for the
general reader ... I seem to be sort of assuming that
there might be a few general readers left on this list. In
your case, Gerald, in contrast to my case---seems that
your writing style and effectiveness, on the other hand,
represent---at least from my speculative
perspective---the kind of writing abilitites that seem
beyond me, so, what can I say, other than
congratulations.
