Although Nicholas Goodricke-Clarke was an early contributor to "
Theosophical History" and has an international reputation as a scholar of
modern western occultism and its political impact, his four appearances
during the weekend of the theosophical history conference are unprecedented
( see www.theosophical-society.org.uk. )

NGC has been preparing a Blavatsky volume for the series " Western Esoteric
Masters" ( formerly " Essential Readings" ) which has been relaunched under
his editorship by North Atlantic Books.
The volumes contain an introduction to the life and work of the subject,
followed by selections from their work under various headings. New editions
have already appeared of Paracelsus, Boehme and Fludd- Swedenborg is
printing and Blavatsky and Steiner will follow.

Clues to his assessment of Blavatsky may be derived from his conference
paper " The Divine Fire"
which is a discussion of Fohat, a mysterious term used by HPB about whose
meaning in Tibetan there is no agreement. The paper, which has been
submitted to the quarterly " Theosophical History" is a profound analysis of
some historical parallels in western occultism and is notable for the
attention it gives to " Isis Unveiled".

NGC is also a translator, and he will introduce his new translation from the
German of Ernst Benz's classic study " Emanuel Swedenborg - visionary
savant" which has just been published by the Swedenborg Foundation.

In an academic venture supported by Blavatsky Trust, NGC has been appointed
as a research fellow at Lampeter, University of Wales where he is teaching a
new postgraduate module on the western esoteric tradition. This is one of
the few opportunities to study esoteric matters at university level
anywhere, and will be watched with great interest throughout the world.

Finally in a public lecture, after the formal end of the conference, NGC
will speak on " Rosicrucian Secrets". A number of scholars such as
Christopher McIntosh and Frances Yates have thrown much light on these in
recent years.
