RE: permanence, "REALITY," self/not-self

Dear Mauri:

Look on yourself as "permanent" -- you REMEMBER, you
EXPERIENCED, you QUESTIONED, etc....

YOU are always the "SELF," the WITNESS, the OBSERVER, and the
CHOOSER.

YOU direct the Mind. The Mind has for reference the GREAT SELF.
That GREAT SELF has for its "source" the ABSOLUTENESS, which is
indescribable, yet always present as a "back-ground." It survives
and preserves all "things" even when "manifestation" ceases.
Sleep and rest supervenes cyclically over all. Then, in due time
immutable and ever-acting Karma causes all to awaken again and
recommence their Individual and conjoint pilgrimages.

In a small way we do this every night and morning, day and
evening, of our lives. In sleep the form is untenanted, yet kept
alive by the "life-thread." It can be awakened, and also in due
course when rested, it awakes in a natural way. So SELF,
consciousness, memory, thinking, and feeling are restored to
active work in and through the physical brain that houses them
when WE are "awake in our bodies again." And when we are "tired"
we go to sleep to refresh ourselves, and rest the body -- at the
eternal and immortal spring of Life, where the TRUE SELF resides.
[ Note that one of the 7 "principles" of man is Prana -- or the
"life-breath." ]

We are all individuals, yet, simultaneously part of a vast
family. It is difficult for the "embodied mind" wrapped in
exotericism and events to grasp this idea of transcendence. You
are a citizen, yet also yourself, and also, a member of humanity
at large.

For thought there are no barriers such as time, space,
designations.

YOU control the fleeting feelings, imagination, and emotional
urges that surge over all of us, and obscure clear thinking..

If you doubt that , then what are you relying on for the thread
of continuity, say for the past 4 or 5 years of "speculation."
and further back into your earlier years.

As to your use of "exoteric" and "esoteric" I cannot understand
what hold they have over you.

Try and see if this makes it simple:

LAW and LAWS are always esoteric to actions. They provide force
and direction for actions on the 'form-side" of things.

The "form" is always exoteric.

At least, that is how it seems to me.

best wishes,

Dal.

PS Have a look at this:

"The Occultists are, therefore, at one with the Adwaita Vedantin
philosophers as to the above tenet. They show the impossibility
of accepting on philosophical grounds the idea of the absolute
ALL creating or even evolving the "Golden Egg," into which it is
said to enter in order to transform itself into Brahma - the
Creator, who expands himself later into gods and all the visible
Universe.

They say that Absolute Unity cannot pass to infinity; for
infinity presupposes the limitless extension of something, and
the duration of that "something"; and the One All is like Space -
which is its only mental and physical representation on this
Earth, or our plane of existence - neither an object of, nor a
subject to, perception.

If one could suppose the Eternal Infinite All, the Omnipresent
Unity, instead of being in Eternity, becoming through periodical
manifestation a manifold Universe or a multiple personality, that
Unity would cease to be one...Space is neither a "limitless
void," nor a "conditioned fulness," but both: being, on the plane
of absolute abstraction, the ever-incognisable Deity, which is
void only to finite minds,* and on that of mayavic perception,
the Plenum, the absolute Container of all that is, whether
manifested or unmanifested: it is, therefore, that ABSOLUTE ALL.
There is no difference between the Christian Apostle's "In Him we
live and move and have our being," and the Hindu Rishi's "The
Universe lives in, proceeds from, and will return to, Brahma
(Brahmâ)": for Brahma (neuter), the unmanifested, is that
Universe in abscondito, and Brahmâ, the manifested, is the Logos,
made male-female* in the symbolical orthodox dogmas."

something that stands against, and is separate from, a

Maybe the notion of transcendence beyond all forms of
"self" and "not-self" might tend to be, for humans in
general, somewhat foreign and esoteric, at least until
one has directly experienced such a Thing ... Instead of
thinking in terms of transcending beyond "self" and
"not-self," I wonder if there might be a somewhat
general human tendency to posit a bigger and bigger
cap S on "self," instead (as per whatever interpretive,
karmic variant, religion, Theosophy, etc) , as if that
could somehow Fix one's notions about "Reality along
the Way." I tend to suspect that Things aren't that
simple. Or could one say that Things are so Simple
that, to most people, such Things seem complicated,
confusing and esoteric ...

Speculatively,
Mauri
