Harnessing Opposing Forces Inwardly

Hi. I do not have much time now, and thought I would put this reply to a
message on another list out here. I have deleted the portions of the message
that are not written by me. Sorry if you are getting this two or even more
time, but I want everyone to see this, and it is not my general practice to
do a lot of duplicate posting. The message quoting Gurdjieff, which I just
saw, inspired me to put this out here.. Wry

Hi. I hope you will not be offended if I respond to this message. The tone
and spirit of your sentiment is very beautiful, inspirational and calming.
I just want to comment on a few points.

WRY: This has been very hard for me to understand, so maybe this will not be
so easy for others: The war is a manifestation of chaos that results from
not harnessing forces within oneself in such a way that the constant
opposition of this against that or active against passive is not harnessed
into an active force. This is done by conscience suffering (patience) plus
physically moving in a certain way as one does ones daily work. But unless
one knows how to move in this way, one will do it wrongly, further
programing and supporting the existing imbalance of tensions between the
various functioning such as thought and feeling into ones general
functioning, which would only support and maintain the existing disorder.
Light is a very interesting subject and I will write about this in the
future, but, technically, when used as a reference point, it is not the
"clear light" of objectivity and the conscious love that accompanies it as a
monad of living grace. Impartial self observation is the PERFECT means to
achieve this end result, as it not only creates a third force--between the
beginning of a real "I" that is impartial and without opinion and the body
as a object moving in present time. Not only impartial data is gathered that
can be effectively applied later to effect specific results rather than
further mechanical deflection, but also, an active force comes into
existence. As a result of this kind of Work, material will organize and
align itself, around the physicality that is being objectively recorded, in
such a way that the world can be immediately benefited. It is the beginning
of mastership.

WRY: Not to discount the genuine sincerity and beauty of your sentiment, but
Light is a formatory concept and without the darkness of this war, this
concept cannot exist. There is another light and also another black, which
has been referred to in pre-Islamic religion, as the "black beyond black."
Goodness is wonderful, but without discrimination (wisdom), goodness can be
"bad." Bad people generally think they are good, and all people tend to
gravitate toward physical light. "Light" is a thought, once removed from
physical light, the source of and key to human transformation, a PHYSICAL
process, which will solve (dissolve) the problems of all humanity.

WRY: In my understanding, one cannot let go in this way or we would all be
liberated. Surely just dropping a grudge is not a bad practice, but this
dropping needs to be continuous. It couild be called a form of dying.
Without an impartial recording of the whole dynamic, with NO analysis, there
will always be clinging. Something impartial needs to record whatever is
going on, be it hate or love. The dynamic to grab for the best in onself is
surely understandable, but it is not effective. Letting go become a act of
holding on. To see WHAT IS without interpreting is a kind of Work that
totally realigns everything, while at the same time harnessing the force of
a true warrior. This kind of Work is not for everyone, but it is important
to explain it for those who may be attracted in this direction. Sincerely,
Wry
