Re War and theosophy
Dear friends:
Is there not a way to resolve this?
Lets ask ourselves ( not one another) :
Does the HIGHER SELF support war and killing ?
Have we the right to destroy for whatever reason the "form" that
another brother, and Eternal Pilgrim, a fellow Monad is using?
How will this look on our record when we become Buddhas in the long
future ahead, and are able to look back at our deeds. ( Remember the
H P B article: KARMIC VISIONS ?) and the vision of the HIGHER SELF
there ?
Each has to answer this for themselves.
Seems to me that the more we try to justify, or argue in favor of such
horrors as torture, maiming, asphyxiation and fast or slow
death-dealing -- to OURSELVES, only --- we cannot be on a
"superior," or the virtuous "Middle Path" -- as recommended by the
Buddha.
Let's turn it around. Are we ready to be killed by others rightly or
wrongly ? If we are and do not resent the injustice and the enormity
of such a calamity, then we may have a point.
It again, and always will be the continual conflict between WISDOM (
Buddhi), and IGNORANCE, SELFISHNESS AND FOLLY ( Kama) .
But perhaps I could be wrong there, too ? What do you think?
Dallas

And you wonder the reason for my hostility for you. I assume
that you
consider anybody who does not think exactly as you do a
psuedo-Theosophist. Only those who agree with you completely is a REAL
Theosophist. You are turning Theosophy into a religion. Worse, you are
taking the tack that if you can prevent an evil from being done, and
don't prevent it, then you bear no karmic responsibility for that
evil.
That is, to put it mildly, ridiculous.
Read the Bhagavad Gita sometime. You might find it
enlightening.
