Good question -- which shows that speculation doesn't teach us anything.
And, that understanding both evolution and karma and their interrelationships
aren't as simple as some of us think. It also tells us that any statements
made by anybody (and that includes everybody) about the nature of reality --
without reference to logical and reasonable proof -- should be taken with a
grain of salt... Meaning, think about it, compare it with the reasonable
teachings of theosophy (and modern/post modern science that is consistent
with theosophy) while studying all the opposing views, and then when you
decide you have the correct answer, make the statement and present your
logical reasoning behind it... Or keep quiet until you thoroughly know what
you are talking about. Remember, none of us can claim to be the "originator"
of theosophical Truth. Everything is what they are (as Popeye and "God"
said, referring to themselves). And that's for "them" to know and us to find
out -- for ourselves. If I knew, from the standpoint of the Masters of
Compassion and Wisdom, the actual mechanisms of how karma really worked, I'm
not sure I would tell anybody. That also goes for the mechanisms and
application of the primal "force" that changes the "causeless cause" into the
"first cause" (all Buddhist arguments about their existence or non existence
notwithstanding. ;~)
