That is an excellent question. Bear in mind I am wondering aloud 
about the opinion of another Theosophist. I suspect the reason HPB 
and others prescribed cremation was to rapidly cause the dissolution 
od the kama-rupa. She expected to come back immediately after death 
and would not have wanted a shell from her former incarnation hanging 
around. Since the kama-rupa is closely connected with karma, it is 
likely she thought a rapid dissolution of it would be advantageous.

Any more thoughts?
