A really inspiring religious movement, that one. First they p[ublish
chloroform in print, then have some liars attest to its authenticity,
then stir up hatred in the area.

Well, yes, but when Al Capone ordered bootleg wars in Chicago then
went to Florida. When the bootleg wars started in Boston, Joseph P.
Jennedy parked his family in New York Cty snd went to Hollywood.
Nobody seriously believes these guys were innocent. Making sure you
are out of town when you start some trouble is an old tactic.

Actually, all I said was that Young benefited from the murders which
conveniently removed all the obstacles to his advancement, and Ithink
everyone would agree that is true. The fact that he is credited with
running a murder organization later suggests either (1) he was
involved in planning the murder of Smith et al, or (2) that he
learned from that experience that murder could be quire useful to an
ambitious man such as himself. I would have a hard time believing
Young was innocent of much of anything.

It would be a dead issue if Mormonism were dead, but unfortunately it
is not dead.
