Re: Essay and notes below.

Dear B and Friends:

In my opinion it would be fair to say:

1.	No "church" or body of Theologians (who originally
formulated dogmas) has a right to perpetuate them without
alteration if they are shown to be questionable or false.

2.	Karma is a law: Effects follow causes exactly. It is
the universal law of Nature (the Universe, Deity, God.)
The 2nd most important concept is that of individual
IMMORTALITY. The Spirit-Soul of Man never dies, it
reincarnates. If one does not balance one's accounts in
this life, then the next lives will be the field for such
balancings. "Pre-existence" taught by early Christian
bishops and churches (and the Gnostics) does away with
priestly intervention, remission of sins and special favors
from a whimsical God, whose purposes "are not to be
investigated." (Say the priests , of course.)

2.	The Christian teachings in their original form (see what
is attributed to Jesus in the most ancient of MSS and
correlated with the "Dead-Sea Scrolls") show the same basis
as Buddhism, Hinduism, and in effect establish the proof
that morals and ethics are universal and not the special
property of any "religion." (This can be demonstrated by
comparative study.)

3.	The problem with the Church system and it dogmas is that
the RESPONSIBILITY of the individual for the quality of his
thoughts and feelings is obscured, obstacled. The
priesthood has placed itself in this juncture and claims to
represent a Personal god who has the power to "remit sins."
It does not state that the suffering of the victims will be
redressed by those who created them to begin with. This is
the most glaring error.

4.	Karma involves all the aspects of the manifested Universe
without any exceptions. It views every "life-atom" as a
"Monad" ( a SPIRIT / MATTER Unit ). Hence any thought or
feeling directed with a motive for "good" or "bad" impacts
and imprints itself on these. As they become so impressed
they affect the environment of the originator of the thought
or feeling and the reaction from Nature *as a whole) is
colored by the imprint so made -- accordingly the originator
receives in return the exact effect of the original force he
generated -- the motive is returned.

5.	A knowledge of Karma and its logic would cause any
intelligent person to decide against doing any evil. He
himself will be the eventual sufferer. There is no escaping
this action. It is educative and no punitive. It return to
the individual who generates good or evil the exact result
of the power used in such generation. Who wants to harm
themselves ?

6.	The interesting thing about (Theosophy as I have found
out) is that it accounts for everything as a unit. Karma
cannot be dissected, it is integrated with everything.
Hence reincarnation, individual "progress," the practice of
the virtues, the discovery of the secrets of nature are all
part of one WHOLE.

All it needs is to quietly think things out and see how they
integrate. Further, those facts are and have always been
there, available to the MIND that seeks for them.

What we have lacked in many cases are the threads that draw
us to their discovery in our selves. SELF-KNOWLEDGE is the
final and only key to "mystery." Mystery is LIFE.

Best wishes,

Dallas

Dear friends who have responded to my recent stack of
questions.

I appreciate the detailed answers that you have provided. I
have no
intention, nor am I qualified to debate the data.

Let me try to describe one more time what I am trying to
detertmine.

1. Does the Roman church or any other church have the
organized right to
change their dogma at any time. Since in 500AD they did
have a serous
discussion and changed certain beliefs, I think you have
answered yes.

Such being the case they surely can make changes or a series
of changes overr
a long period of time.

2. In the few years that I have been studying Theosophy I
have come to
believe that it supports a doctrine called Karma that tends
to "record and
evaluate" the good and bad thoughts and decisions that we
make as we pass
through our life on earth. I have also come to believe that
sooner or later,
we have to balance those good and bad deeds.

3. I have also come to believe that Christian philosophy
does not have such
a system. It requires each individual to examine his or
herr conscience and
ask the Creaator to forgive any harm that he had done.

4. Both seem to want to get to the same end. However, the
Karma system
appears to do a more thorough job because it tends to cause
mankind to test
the goodness of all his decisions throughout his life on
earth.

5. Such being the case would not the Karma system reduce
the incidence of
what we might call criminal content as opposed to trying to
travel down the
road to brotherhood?

6. Should not the Theosophy society be trying to build
that road instead of
just trying as individuals to learn more about the whole
Process of
Evolution?
