Bart:

Perhaps you were thinking of the Adyar edition of THE SECRET DOCTRINE?

Original Three-Volume Adyar
Edition Edition Edition
Vol. I Vol. II Vol. I & II
Vol. II Vol. II Vol. III & IV
******* Vol. III* Vol. V
******* ******** Vol. VI (Index)

* Materials published after Blavatsky's death, including her
esoteric papers.

----

In the Adyar edition, the original SD appeared in four volumes and
you have five volumes if you count the extra materials from the
three-volume edition.

Both the three-volume edition and the Adyar edition contained
tens of thousands of editorial changes. The T.S. Adyar decided
to discontinue that edition. Around the same time, TPH Wheaton
came out with Boris de Zirkoff's edition of THE SECRET DOCTRINE,
as part of the COLLECTED WRITINGS OF H.P. BLAVATSKY series.

As I stated, I had difficulty recalling. I had been told that the
pubishing of the Secret Doctrine as 2 volumes was relatively recent, and
I very well may have been misinformed.
