Hi Bart. Let me offer some observations here.

It's clear that William Q. Judge was in favor of a non-dogmatic society.
But he also argued that just because an associate had the right to
believe anything her/she personally wanted to, that did not give them the
right to expound on non-theosophical or anti-theosophical themes during
lodge meeting times. Some have come into our midst with a hidden secret
agenda and then tried to implement that agenda during meeting times. That
can not be allowed to fly.
What is strange is that you of all people would bring this matter up. I
say this through the observation that you yourself have been instrumental
in purging this Theos-World lists of the same types of people. Although
Eldon had the final say, it seemed that your accusations were what
motivated him to unsubscribe Bridget from this list some months ago. You
are also very critical of Frank. I'm not saying you were not justified in
either case, just observing that you take part in the very thing you
accuse ULT of doing. At least you shoud understand and empathize with
their actions.

As I understand it, each lodge has a committee that deals with all the
mundane things. They pay the bills, maintain the hall, etc. But that is
separate from the workings of the actual lodge as a theosophical group,
where all associates have a say if they want it and volunteerism is the
rule of the day. I'm sure someone like Dallas could offer you more solid
information in this regard.
Fraternally,
Larry
