I wish the politicians would tell a truth which is obvious to anybody
who does just a tiny bit of research (and not in "secret sources"; it's
all out in the open).
Social Security is NOT an investment and pension plan. It's a taxation
and welfare plan. The politicians CALL it an investment and pension
plan, so that people won't be ashamed to take the money. But the money
we pay into Social Security is not going into an investment fund; it's
paying TODAY'S recipients. The so-called "Trust Fund" (aka the pocket
that the government takes money from to put into other pockets, leaving
an IOU in its place) is there in case there's a crash, there's a backup
to the taxes. But the life expectency is much higher than it was when
Social Security was instituted, and Social Security has been expanded to
give welfare from that tax base to the disabled as well as the elderly
(and disabled has been expanded to include drug addicts and the like).
So, any plan to "invest" the money is garbage.
