Is Theosophy against Corrupt Politics?

Is Theosophy against corrupt politics? I say it depends. An idealist
politician, for example, will tend to fight for his or her ideals,
whether or not they are the best for the Universe. For example, many
politicians believe that people are not capable of making proper choices
for themselves, and try to increase government control over the
individual, keeping individuals from making their own choices and
blocking them from being able to deal with their own karma, not
something which I would consider to be Theosophical.

New York State has had a series of idealists as Senators, who have
practically destroyed the state by ignoring the needs of New York for
the nation. And when you make a deal that is unfair to you, that
increases the level of unfairness in the Universe. This was balanced out
by Senator Al D'Amato, who was highly corrupt, but made sure that, when
the national pie was divided, New York would get its share. When people
needed help, he would help them. The saying used to go, "If you want a
lecture on the history of immigration, go to (New York Senator)
Moynahan. If you want a green card, go to D'Amato." Regardless of his
corruption, D'Amato kept the karma balanced far better than idealists
like Bobby Kennedy, Jim Buckley, Jacob Javits, Pat Moynahan, or Hillary
Clinton.
