Dear Friends:
The word "skandha" has been translated "attribute." It is further
said that any time we make a choice our thought is connected with an
"elemental." The elementals being a living being on the plane of the
astral and that of the Kamic nature -- our desires and passions.
It is important to note that we as "mind-beings" are made aware of
this link since the way to our true progress lies through the
formation of harmonious and compassionate links.
Look on those elementals as "monads" at a low level of experience and
education. We were once at that stage. We have transcended it and
are now in the "Mind" stage of the Monad's progress. The Monas are
held to be eternal. The entirety of SPACE is filled with them. They
are the eternal points and forces of LIFE.
H P B spoke of the 5 senses of perception and the 5 sense of action.
The other two are simply the highest aspects of our own nature as also
that of every other being in the Universe. They are: 1. those of
BUDDHI -- or wisdom of accumulate experience, and of 2. ATMA -- a
"ray" of the Universal one SPIRIT which is resident in us as in all
other atoms of life and composite beings. [ Theologically it is the
omnipresence of GOD, and "his" immanence. We are in God and God is in
us. ]
Both texts the KEY TO THEOSOPHY (HPB) and the OCEAN OF THEOSOPHY
speak of and explain your queries., and they both have excellent
INDEXES which enable a rapid review of appropriate references. Both
are available through http://www.blavatsky.net on line for reading
or for downloading.
For those who become inquirers into Theosophy and its possible value
to them, the actual books are recommended -- as notes can be placed in
them. Also available through the bookshop at BLAVATSKY NET.
Best wishes,
Dallas

Subject: Skandhas
Hi all
This is off topic but I have just read something I was
hoping someone could enlighten me on.
I have been browsing through a book called "Chanting
the Names of Manjusri" translated by alex Wayman. In
it he mentions very briefly how the 5 usual skandhas
can be increased to 7 skandhas by the addition of a
"jnana skandha" and a "dharmadatu skandha". I have
always been bothered by HPB and the Mahatma's
insistence on 2 "extra" esoteric skandhas, and I
wonder if the reference above might be some sort of
solution. Nothing more is said in the book, except a
refernce to another work by A.Wayman, "Mkhas grub
rje's Fundamentals". I do not have access to this
work.
If someone could say something about this either on
the list(if appropriate) or privately I would really
appreciate it.
