A correspondent sent the following [see below] to me
for my feedback and comments. Some interesting
statements are made by jlr. Does anyone know who jlr
is? I would like to contact this person and get a
more detailed elucidation of the contentions made.

"I am of the opinion, based on my understanding of the
historical record, that much, if not all, of the
writings that are attributed to HPB were heavily
edited and proofed by several of those folks that were
closest to her within her "inner circle." The
historical record is quite clear that HPB was not
fluent in the English language. That those writings
that are attributed to her are not, per se, published
verbatim from her notes is pretty much a given by
serious scholars of her works. However, I do not
believe the "spirit and intent" of what was published
was/is not not what she wanted to convey, in so many
words. But, again my opinion, there is no doubt in my
mind that there were outside influences operating
behind the scenes to ensure that what was published
re: theosophical ideas and concepts was presented in
the best light possible. Theosophy, as attributed to
HPB, was in actuality a synthesis of the ideas of many
folks working in concert. As we say in the South, her
ideas were "gussied up" a whole bunch. Later. Sat Nam.
