Theosophy does not speak of "Creation" as in the theistic
religious coneptions, such as, the Christian, but EVOLUTION OF
PRE-EXISTING IDEAS, PROTOTYPAL SPRITUAL FORMS, INTO OBJECTIVITY.
This is what all the ancient religious philosophies of oldest
peoples teach.

" Everything that is, was, and will be,eternally IS, even the
countless forms, which are finite and perishable only in their
objective, not in their ideal form. They existed as Ideas, in the
Eternity, and, when they pass away, will exist as reflections.

"Neither the form of man, nor that of any animal, plant or stone
has ever been CREATED, and only on this plane of ours that it
commenced "becoming," i.e., objectivising into its present
materiality, or expanding from within outwards, from the most
sublimated supersensuous essence into its grossest appearence.

"Therefore, our human forms have existed in the Eternity as
astral or ethereal prototypes ; according to which models, the
spiritual Beings (or Gods) whose duty it was to bring them into
objective being and terrestrial Life, evolved the protoplasmic
forms of the future Egos from their own esence. After which, when
this human Upadhi, or basic mould was ready, the natural
terrestrial Forces began to work on those supersensuous moulds,
which contained, beside their own, the elements of all the past
vegetable and future animal forms of this globe in them.

Therefore, man's outward shell passed through every vegetable and
animal body befor it assumed the human shape." (I, 282).

S.D. shows that Man of chapter i of Genesis is this Archetypal
Man, not man of this earth, and is shown made in the image of God
because it was the ideal Kosmic prototype made in the Image of
Eternal Ideal existing in the Universal Mind. But Man of Gen. ii
is not made in the image of 'God" because he is terrestrial
shadowy form of the Archetypal Man of Gen. i.

"Man" of Gen. i is collective Spiritual Humanity, and "God" of
Gen. i is Gods collectively--Elohim--not anthropomorphic
theological God. Gen. i / 27 is quite plain about this :

"And God said, Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness ;
and let THEM [mankind, collectively] have dominion over the fish
of the sea.....etc...."
