ADAM AND EVE

Unfortunately if the BIBLE is read literally it makes little sense.
It has been through the hands of so many translators that the original
statements and intent has been mangled by the bias and interest of
those who produced translations from the originals in Aramaic or
Greek. And it has now been hopelessly materialized from its original
Kabalistic meaning. H P B explains this in ISIS UNVEILED

In the 1st Vol. of The SECRET DOCTRINE and in ISIS UNVEILED the
symbology has been detailed: They represent an early "race" of
mankind.

Since Theosophy teaches reincarnation it means that all of us, human
Souls used the bodies in a race represented by the names ADAM and EVE
.

In the beginning mankind was androgyne (unisexed) , then the sexes
were separated. {see S D i pp. 234, 246, 337, 255-6, 427, 450, II
37, 128-9, 595.}

Eve represents the female portion of Adam S D II 269fn.

In all cases the form ADAM/EVE was the vehicle of AIN-SOPH (the
Higher Self - ATMA ) S D I 179, 432,

The FIRST CAUSE manifests through Adam -- the "race" S D I 214.

The 10 Sephiroth (creative potencies and "principles" -- as the Laws
of manifestation and evolution) manifest through the race Adam/Eve	S D
I 98, 391, 430-3, II 1-2fn, 544, 704fn.

Agreed! It's too much information to be dealt with at one time. I
guess we all need some more time to think things over for a while and
then proceed with this blessed study! It's very gratifying for me to
read all the comments posted in here. They have helped me a lot in my
comprehension of Theosophy and other subjects as well. Thank you
